DESIGN PROCESS

—  HOW IT WORKS  —

Jerrica Zaric Interior Design takes a holistic approach to design following a rigorous 15-step project management system that ensures our projects are on time, on budget, and fun.


Our detailed project management system has been honed over the last decade to make sure our projects run as smoothly as possible, issues are handled efficiently, and details are communicated with the client every step of the way. With the ultimate goal of client satisfaction in mind, we run our projects like a well-oiled machine. It's no wonder most of our business is repeat or referral clientele!

Our process can be summarized into four distinct phases:

 

I | DISCOVERY

Every new project starts with a complimentary 30-minute discovery call. We will learn more about each other, talk about how we can help you, inform you of our process, and ultimately determine if we’d like to work together. If all sounds good then we will schedule a two-hour in-home or virtual (for remote clients only) consultation. During the consultation, Jerrica Zaric and a Senior Designer will do an on-site analysis where we get to know you and your goals. We will tour through the space and ask you key questions about your lifestyle, likes, dislikes, and vision all while offering our thoughts along the way. Once we have a good understanding of the scope, wish list of items, desired budget, and timeline, we will sit down to discuss our contract and flat fee associated with your project. A signed contract and payment of the flat fee will officially welcome you to Team JZID as we go to the next phase!

II | Research, Design, & Presentation

Design is in the details. The steps in our Research, Design, and Presentation phase are the most time-intensive. We kick our projects off with bringing all necessary trades into the home on one busy day to assess the project and brainstorm solutions. We take measurements and photographs that allow us to create our construction documents.

Our construction packet includes everything needed to pull city permits – current layout, demo plan, new layout with dimensions and annotations, lighting plans, elevation drawings, and comprehensive scope by trade. Using this packet, we gather pricing from all of the trades, fabricators, and furniture and decor vendors in order to come up with an all-in budget for your project. No pillow insert will be left out!

We present all details to our clients during an exciting in-person presentation where we get approval on layout, furnishings, fixtures, finishes, budget, and timeline. Once we have approval, we will move to the next phase where we make our drawings come to life!

 
 
 

III | Implementation

This third phase is all about making sure our designs come to life. At JZID, we lead the project from inspiration to the very end. We have a hand in everything from permitting, hiring the trades, procuring all materials, and managing the installation. We handle all deficiencies on the project and make regular site checks to ensure installation is up to our standards. We are the trades' main contact on the project for questions and troubleshooting. Through our Client Services team, we provide the client with weekly project updates so they know what was completed that week and what will be happening the following week. Through this process, clients can be as involved or not involved in the project as they want.

Once construction is complete and furniture is installed, JZID schedules the exciting Step 11 – Client Reveal. We pop champagne and walk the clients through their new space. We identify any lingering deficiencies and add them to our detailed punch list spreadsheet so they can be dealt with in a timely manner.

 
 
 

IV | project closure

This is a bitter-sweet phase for us; we are excited that the clients can live in the new space we created for them but it’s always hard leaving since we spent months deeply invested in the project. Once we all agree that all punch list items are complete and the client is in love with their dream home, we provide a parting gift and the project closeout binder. This binder has all collateral from the project, cleaning directions, warranty information, and a request to review our team. Client feedback is essential to providing stellar service to our clientele. With client satisfaction being a top priority, it’s no wonder that most of our new projects are from repeat clients and direct referrals.
